Preached by Paul Dean on May 4th, 2008
Most of the poetry written three thousand years ago is never
given a second thought in our day, but the Psalms remain relevant because they
were inspired by God and are therefore able to help us understand who God is
and how to walk with Him, and the vivid language and rhythmic writing help
convey the same timeless truths to us that they brought to their original
audience. Psalm 1 is a poetic reminder
that God’s Word is a creative force, not a restrictive force, and is given to
us to nourish our spiritual growth as we grow closer to God.

We believe that God’s truth has the power to change people’s lives. We ourselves have been transformed by the truth that we can be reconciled to God by trusting in His Son Jesus Christ and His death on our behalf on the cross. It is our mission and prayer to see God glorified as the power of this truth is unleashed in the Issaquah area so that many people will turn from their rebellion against God and follow Christ as their Lord and Savior, building a stronger relationship with Him, growing to be more like Him in holiness and love, and sharing this powerful truth with others. |
